Global Object Manager
Many companies with complex SAP system landscapes complain about the lack of transparency in their systems. Over many years these systems have developed a dynamism of their own that is now hard to control and comprehend. This resulted in sudden expen-ses for maintenance, support, migration and upgrading that could actually be avoided.
A further aspect in managing heterogeneous systems is the harmonization of the template and roll-out systems in order to maintain a sound balance between the standard soft-ware and the individually developed objects in the overall systems. The aim is to detect at an early stage any form of deviation which could lead to unnecessary expenses, and, if necessary, avoid it.
These are only two of several striking examp-les where the Global Object Manager can help efficiently to get transparency of your systems and ensure on the long term that this transparency will be preserved and you can save your IT-budget for maintenance and support.
Thanks to our experience in numerous natio-nal and international project implementa-tions, roll-outs and system consolidations, CIBER AG has provided the input for a development that is quite unique on the market. Thanks to a highly-integrated tool suite, the Global Object Manager – careful analysis, system streamlining, optimization and ongoing security – it is ensured that handling your systems is no longer some Sisyphean task but truly an efficient process that saves costs.

Global Object Manager from analysis to monitoring
The Global Object Manager is mod-ular in structure. As a first step we recommend that our clients under-take a Repository Snapshot. The tool allows us to determine the actual customer object inventory for all his systems. Therefore it is possible to have a first glance at potential savings or other clean-up necessities.
Often we detect that a considerable percentage of the programs, reports and other objects have actually not been used. This tends to get dragged along from one release to the next, without being used again.
For the real clean-up and prepara-tion of your landscape we provide the object work list. This function will allow us further in-depth analyses of the current system as well as the target release system.
The analyses include the following functions:
- Usage analysis transactions/ programs
- Inconsistency check (objects)
- Scan of the utilized SAP functions in customer programs and check if any deviations will occur in the target release
- Unicode violations
- Adaptive set of working rules
- Object Editing directly invoked from the Work List in Source and Target systems
- Generation of all statistics to evaluate the effort required for an upgrade/Unicode project
- Integration of the transport system or GOM CR process
The object work list allows in addition the mass deletion of objects, a fast re-classifi-cation of objects (development class/ pack-age) and the upload of customer specific work list result.
To customers who plan a release upgrade and/or a Unicode conversion we also offer an automated modernisation of your entire source code on the corresponding target release version. Also this function is an integral component of the object work list.
Any change or processing steps are auto-matically recorded and are traceable at any time.
Extensive statistics allow you to evaluate and estimate the effort for changes before the actual realisation.
Change Request Management
Furthermore the Change Request Management ensures that the once established rules in your system will be maintained.
The Change Request Management provides a status management to support any approval requirements that a company might have. In addition we provide flexible workflow support in order to integrate new or existing workflow scenarios.
No matter if you have to manage process, training, functional or any other documentat-ion, the GOM offers you a highly flexible way to administer everything in one central sys-tem. GxP compliance and digital signatures are also supported throughout the process.
The topic transport management leaves hard-ly anything to be desired:
- all transportation orders are always im-ported in the right chronological order
- global object lock-concept
- ´Overshooter` import check
- any supply and synchronisation of systems
- object existence check prior to the import (to avoid runtime errors in the production)
The Change Request Management provides digital signatures (GxP and SOX conformity) and ITIL compliant processes (service deli-very).
